What is your success rate? The most asked (but least valuable) question when speaking to lawyers about your Global Talent visa application

This is an entirely meaningless question because:

If my entire Tech Nation Global Talent visa case load comprised CTOs at digital tech unicorns with incredible accomplishments, then my success rate could be at or close to 100%.

But if my case load comprises front-end developers without a significant profile beyond their immediate workspace, then my success rate might be 25%.

As soon as I start to explain why I think this is the wrong question to be asking, I get the feeling that clients immediately think ‘they must have a low success rate’.

So I end up telling them what my success rate is for Global Talent Tech Nation visa applications (it’s around 85% guys), immediately followed by an explanation of why that is a data point devoid of any value, and not a reason to instruct us.

It’s difficult to choose a lawyer, and I would usually suggest having as many initial conversations with lawyers as possible: but success rates, especially in Tech Nation applications, should be low down on the list of relevant considerations.
