Tier 1 (Exceptional Talent): route overview

Tier 1 (Exceptional Talent) visas are for established or emerging leaders in the fields of science, the humanities, engineering, the arts, and digital technology. The government announced on 14 November 2017, that the number of applicants  who can enter the UK in this route was being increased, from 1000 to 2000.

In order to apply for the visa, applicants must receive an endorsement from a relevant ‘Competent Body’. Which one it is will depend on the particular talent of the applicant.   Each Competent Body (with the three ‘science bodies’ loosely grouped together) has a different set of criteria which applicants must meet before receiving an endorsement. After the endorsement is granted, an application can be made for the formal visa (required for entry).

The route should not be overlooked as an option for talented applicants, especially those working within the field of digital technology who the government is attempting to encourage to establish themselves in tech hubs in London and around the UK.

Exceptional lawyers for your Tier 1 (Exceptional Talent) application

Whilst not afflicted to quite the same degree as the rest of the Points Based System, we have found that many Tier 1 (Exceptional Talent) clients often benefit from having a legal expert to manage their case, and to consider the best ways in which they can frame their experience for the purposes of the application.

We have significant recent experience of advising Tier 1 (Exceptional Talent) applicants, and guiding them through the process of evidence collection and collation at both the endorsement and visa application stages of the process. We offer a fixed fee service which covers the entire span of the application with no hidden costs.

Given the regular changes in the law, we recommend that all Tier  1 (Exceptional Talent) applicants seek legal advice before making their applications.
